Love the patients who tell you they take "Latex" for fluid and have had "stool in their blood", and are very put out when you ask them in triage since they have had their stated problem for weeks or months, what made them come in tonight (usually around 3 am).

Pt admitted with DT's. A&Ox1, groggy and confused most of the night. Without warning stands up, just about loses his IV, walks straight to the mini fridge and wolfs down a sherbet I didn't know was there. Climbs back in bed like nothing happened. A&Ox1 for the rest of my shift. Best chuckle I've had in a long time.

My partner & I were dispatched to a suspected cardiac arrest. On arrival we were met by a couple who said they had had seen a lady sitting on her front porch in the same position two days in a row and she was still there. When we approached her, my partner tried to call out to her and got no response. He felt her neck for a pulse and turned to me and said feel her hand. When I did a finger broke off. It was plaster maniquin, but even close up it looked like a perfectly good obese woman.

we bring the homeless 30/f to the county ED for some bullshit headache. staff surprisingly didn't throw her out into the lobby and gave her a room. one of their rare single rooms. we wheel her there and she's upset that the room didn't have a bathroom in it and she'd have to walk to the shared bathroom in the hallway.

Had a young girl come into triage and said she snorted rat poision. Girl was scratching her nose with registrations pen when I asked why she did that. She said a friend gave her bad cocaine. While waiting in the lobby she gets angry and pushes my 80 year old AMS/confusion patient waiting for triage next because she said he stepped on her kid. The 80 year old comes into triage and says "i must be in bad shape cause i didnt see any kid". Ya girl has no kids, ends up restrained. Old man is admitted

The EMS agency I run with is a campus-based organization. Many of us find ourselves encountering patients,& their friends after their emergencies, or their drunken escapades;most people look embarrassed to see us. One night, my crew & I went to dinner; knowing it was going to be a long night, decided to grab a cup of coffee to go. While standing at the counter, a young woman comes up,promptly hugs me & thanks us for saving her friend. Neither one of us had seen this girl before. She was drunk.

I had a patient that came into the ER complaining of "not feeling well", headache..etc. Well, one of my coworkers smelled a "burnt" smell come out of the patients room. When entered, the patient was FLAT IRONING her hair.

This is a sad story. A lady came by ambulance complaing of ABD pain and vaginal bleeding. She said that sha hasn't had a period since July 09. This lady was 8mnths pregnant. When the doc did the sonogram it showed something like a baby with no bones, so we thought it was a tumor. However, it was a baby and it had decomposed in her for 2wks.
