Small-town Louisiana ED: EMS calls report. Bringing 20-something female 18 miles to ED for c/o abdominal pain x 4 hours. No n/v. EMS arrives, tailed by 5(!) vehicles crammed with family and friends. They all park in ED staff parking spaces and the EMS bay. Pt workup is completely negative. OMG! Same thing—why the hell couldn’t family and friends drive patient to ED? Stupid is as stupid does.
