Called to the home of a man who had stomach pains. Upon arrival, he told us, “I went to the ER, but they told me I was going to wait two hours in the waiting room. I didn’t want to wait so I drove back home and called 9-1-1.” His reasoning was he would be seen quicker if EMS brought him in instead of waiting to be seen.
Needless to say, this story was relayed to the charge nurse who promptly put the patient back in the ER, but with an expensive ambulance bill.
