Are you going to argue with a doctor?

Ambulance responded to an anaphylaxis patient and upon arrival found a patient covered in hives and complaining of being very itchy. The medic couldn’t get an IV so he called medical control and was given orders for 50 mg of Benadryl, PO.

Upon hearing this and realizing that the agency didn’t carry PO Benadryl, the driver hollered back through the little window and asked, “Did he say 50 mg of Benadryl, PO?”

To which the medic replied, “Yeah.”

The driver asked, “And you’re gonna do it?”

The medic retorted, “Are you going to argue with a doctor?”

The medic grabbed the pre-filled syringe labelled “IM/IV use only,” instructed the patient to “open up, this is gonna taste like crap,” and squirted it into the patient’s mouth.
